One more small and sweet informative blog about the wordpress on how to disable and remove WordPress Revision Post Features.
When I started working with wordpress I found that revision of each blog is beauty of wordpress and very good feature that saves your efforts if you want to switch over to previous version. In order to move to previous version you just need to select it and update that all!. But it also makes your website slow because of too many revisions (The database might cause longer query time and processes database requests.) . That means, your blog will load slower and your visitors may wait longer before the content comes out. Greater revision post on wordpress also causes high CPU or memory load on your web hosting server. Being new to framework like wordpress it’s little pain to understand such functionality and find good solution for this.
How do we fix this problem ? There are two things you have to do in order to fix this problem. Please take backup of database before you start playing with the data for the sake of safe deal !!.
Step 1: Remove unwanted blog revision from database. Execute following sql statement and remove the unwanted blog revisions from database.
DELETE FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type = “revision”;
Step 2: How to Delete Post Revision in WordPress.
Download the “Delete Revision” plugin and install it on wordpress server. It is very simple wordpress plugin, that removes all revision post within few click. This wordpress plugin also automatically search for post revision on your wordpress database by pressing the Check Redundant Revision button.
Delete Revision Plugin.
Step 3: Last step is to disable post revision features on WordPress.
In order to turn off post revision feature you have to edit the “wp-config.php” file and add following statement before the php closing tag.
If you have wordpress admin login then go to appearance and edit wp-config.php file / login to the server using ftp and add constant for revision and set it to false.
AND N-joy good performance 😀 .
